I just read an interesting article on the Internet Crime Complaint Center’s (IC3.gov) website concerning a “Significant increase in IRS-Themed Smishing Campaigns” – See link; https://www.ic3.gov/Media/Y2022/PSA221004
IC3.gov has received an increase in reports from victims that they received a fake text message from the IRS to complete a application and registration form by clicking a link in the text. Read Public Service Announcement (PSA) I-100422-PSA dated Oct 04, 2022.
